  • Their are many programs that will enable to you produce your wown music and arrangements.

    Personal preference is

Reason 4.0 – has fantastic in built synths but no VST plug in support and not the easyerst to master
Cubase SX – Best for final mixdown and arrangement, you can also re-wire your VST’s through here

FL Studio – more user friendly production software VST support.
Sonys Acid Pro – lower budget but equally effective user friendly software

  • I’m using FL Studio Producer Edition and Ableton Live.

Not sure if you actually mean software specifically for composing or also production of music. I don’t do traditional composing but if I would I’d start with the free Noteflight: http://www.noteflight.com/

In case you end up getting FL Studio, you can get 10% discount on your first order from image-line with this promo link for new customers: https://support.image-line.com/jshop/shop.php?offer=Default&promo=BACJBAA468

Regarding the language, I’m not sure which one of the two is better since I’m not a native speaker myself. Sorry!

  • I’ve grown up using “finale” and I love it!

  • I use Sibelius.

Finale is the other market leader in music engraving.

… There are dozens of other packages as well.

  • As rachel not idiot would say “I use my brain to compose the music and Sibelius to notate it”

‘What software do you use to compose music?’ would be better English. ‘What software ARE you using’ is present tense, and implies that we are using it right now, which we’re not. (:

I don’t like to use a computerized software. I stick to a pencil, a rubber, and blank manuscript. (:

  • I’ve used both Sibelius and Finale thoroughly.

I only use Sibelius 5 now. So many capabilities and a very user-friendly search guide.
